Op 25 september 2020 wordt de expositie “WW II @ABC – De Tweede Wereldoorlog op Aruba, Bonaire en Cura\u00e7ao in 100 foto\u2019s”<\/strong> geopend op het Nationaal Archief Curacao. De expositie sluit aan op de nationale en provinciale tentoonstellingen die in de afgelopen maanden in Nederland zijn georganiseerd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Met deze tentoonstelling herdenken we dat de Tweede Wereldoorlog 75 jaar geleden eindigde en de belangrijke rol die de eilanden hierbij hebben gespeeld.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dit project is tot stand gekomen in samenwerking met de Vertegenwoordiging van Nederland in Willemstad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vanaf eind 2019 werden inwoners van alle Nederlandse provincies als ook in Caribisch Nederland en de landen van het Koninkrijk (Curacao, Aruba en St. Maarten) gevraagd om hun fotoalbums door te nemen en de meest bijzondere foto uit de periode 1940-1945 in te zenden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bij het Nationaal Archief Curacao zijn diverse nieuwe foto’s binnengekomen die we op de expositie zullen laten zien. De tentoonstelling bevat ook foto’s van Aruba en Bonaire. Een deel hiervan is ook geselecteerd voor onze online expositie<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zonder de bijdragen van de Vertegenwoordiging van Nederland in Willemstad, het Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Caribisch Gebied, de Maduro en Curiel\u2019s Bank en de Stichting Vrienden van het Nationaal Archief was deze tentoonstelling niet mogelijk geweest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
